Sharing passions with others
I love teaching and coaching.
I have used my 35 years of experience in Structural Geology in the Oil Industry to identify the fundamental topics requires of sub-surface interpretation and modeling in general. I developed two main courses about “Structural Geology” and “Integrated Fractured Reservoir Characterization and Modeling”. The course can be organized as a combination of classroom, physical field trip and virtual field trip using collaborative Virtual Reality.

Topics
But not limited to
Fault geometry, Fault Interpretation, Fault Kinematics
Fault Seal
Fracture characterization and Fracture modeling
Salt tectonics, delta tectonics
Seismic fault interpretation
Structural styles, Sandbox analogues
Programs
Predefined and on demand
The course content is based on what I have been using in reviews, peer assist, coaching and training sessions with geologists and geophysicists primarily, but with other discipline too, during my career with Shell. The course focusses on the fundamental of structural geology with sub-surfaces business objectives in mind.
The course has designed in Oman and is ideally run in Oman based on the immensity of the outcrops. However, the course can be adapted in other locations and adapted to the available outcrops.
The course covers
Understanding how rocks break and fault grow
Foundation to carry out seismic fault interpretation
Foundation to QA-QC fault interpretation and fault maps
The recognition of structural styles
Use of Sandbox analogues for all the above
Target Audience
Experienced and non-experienced staff
Logistic
2 days in classroom, 2 days in the field
Course prerequisites
Basic knowledge of géosciences and petroleum geology in general. Awareness of structural geology will be beneficial but not mandatory.
Integrated fractured reservoir characterization and modeling
The course content is based on what I have been using in project work, reviews, peer assist, coaching and training sessions with geologists and reservoir engineers. The course follows the logic of typical integrated fracture characterization and modeling study.
The course is based on numerous project case studies and comprises numerous hands-on exercises. Software based exercises using PRFrac software could also be considered.
The course is based on numerous project case studies and comprises numerous hands-on exercises. Software based exercises using PRFrac software could also be considered.
The course covers
The main challenges associated with the characterization and modelling of fractured reservoirs
The fundamental of fracture developments
Fracture characterization at all scales using static and dynamic data
The elaboration of conceptual fracture models
The creation of fracture models
Target Audience
This course is suitable for both new hires and experienced geoscientists and reservoir engineers alike. Offering an exercise-based approach that reinforces and expands their knowledge, professionals from all subsurface disciplines engaged in subsurface projects will find it valuable.
Logistic
The ideal duration of the course is 5 days. Shorter version can be considered. Physical and Virtual reality field trips can be organized in different part of the world.
Course prerequisites
Basic knowledge of geosciences and petroleum geology in general are preferable. Awareness of structural geology will be beneficial but not mandatory.
